Download the FREE iPhone app today!

thePlantfiles The iPhone app is now available to download for Free from the iTunes Appstore.

Before, you download the app it is better that you first register as a free member on www.theplantfiles.com. Once registered you can create your own Plant/ Asset files. To register you will need to have a valid email address. When you have that done, simply download the app onto your iPhone. If you haven’t already done so, make sure your iPhone or iPad has the latest version of iOS, 7.0 or later. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The app is optimized for iPhone 5. When you download the app, enter your username and password, click save and then ‘Sync’ (yellow curved arrow at the top of the screenshot), your app will begin to download your files from the server. Before doing so, it will notify you whether or not you are connected to WiFi, if you are not, it is better to postpone the syncing operation until such time that you are connected. This will prevent you from being charged for data roaming by your mobile phone service provider. You may need to sync the files several times, particularly if there is a lot of data to be synced.

Since you have created your own asset files, the syncing operation will import all these assets onto your phone. You are now ready to start using the app.

The purpose of the app is to allow the plant owner to update files remotely and avoids having to email photos to yourself for uploading later to the system. With the app you can take elevation photos, photos of unique markings such as dents and scratches, record unique numbers, VIN, PIN, Chassis, Serial numbers etc, and tag a photo to the recorded number. You don’t even have to be in a wifi area, simply update the files on site and once back in a WIFI zone, click the sync button on the app and all will be transferred to the server and your files will be updated.

The FREE iPhone app will allow the user to establish whether or not a piece of plant or equipment is registered on the system. It will tell you if it has been reported stolen? Simply click on the ‘Check ID’ (Blue button on the app) and enter any the numbers you see on the asset and click on ‘Search’. If the number relates to a registered asset, then it will display the status of that asset. You will need internet access to use this feature.

Check ID

By entering thePlantfiles ID reference number or indeed any of the recorded manufacturer’s identification numbers such as PIN, VIN, Transmission, Engine numbers etc., the user will be directed to the registered plant. From there the user will be able to establish whether or not the person selling the plant is in fact the registered owner.
